We opened the Copa del Rey in Valencia with a victory against Asisa Joventut (95-84)

1/4 Copa del Rey

Valencia Basket secured their place in the 2026 Copa del Rey semi-finals at the Roig Arena with a hard-fought 95-84 win against Asisa Joventut. The home team initially trailed due to Hunt's offensive prowess, but they recovered and capitalized on a burst of inspiration at the end of the first quarter to take a 10-0 lead. When Hanga hit his three-pointer, Valencia Basket's shooters also found their rhythm, and in the final stretch of the first half, they grew stronger defensively and with Montero providing the spark to take a commanding lead into halftime. Valencia started the second half well but failed to extend their advantage, missing several open shots. Asisa Joventut, relying on Hunt's scoring, fought back to close the gap and make it a game to be decided in the final quarter. Penya closed the gap to three at the start of the final quarter, but Valencia Basket remained calm to maintain their lead with Pradilla's three-pointers and arrived fresher at the end, which Brancou Badio decided to seal the Valencian victory.

Declas Brancou Badio

“It was a game with many ups and downs, with both teams having their moments, but we played a good game, our style of play, and we could have won.”

Declas Pedro Martínez

“We started well, something we didn't do in Badalona, but they reacted very well, playing a faster style of basketball than they usually do. We had problems with rebounding and balance, and we survived thanks to a very good performance from Jean Montero. In the second quarter, we were very solid, but we lacked a better shooting percentage, despite having some fantastic shots. We managed to break them open, and the other team grew stronger, with Kraag and Hanga, and especially Hunt, who is excellent, and they got back into the game. In the final quarter, we scored again, broke them open once more, and that was the decisive factor.”
